Trust in Engineering, Belief in Mankind, Enabling Endless possibilities at CMKL University

By bridging world-class partnerships with local context, Carnegie Mellon – CMKL | Thailand makes technologies accessible and creates innovations that will benefit Thailand and the Southeast Asia region. By applying Carnegie Mellon University’s globally acclaimed research and education programs within a regional context, Carnegie Mellon – CMKL | Thailand tackles challenges that will drive future development of Thailand and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) community.

CMKL University is a joint collaboration between Carnegie Mellon University and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, a leading engineering university in Thailand, for the dual-degree graduate programs in Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE). Our students spend time on the Carnegie Mellon campus in Pittsburgh, USA, and on the CMKL campus in Bangkok, Thailand, giving them the best of both worlds by combining the East and West. Aspiring engineers are choosing to study ECE to take a deep dive into various research areas leading to rewarding careers. The median income for the 2021 ECE M.S. and Ph.D. graduates at Carnegie Mellon is US$127,800.

CMKL’s University provides students with local industry visits, equipping graduates with real-world problem-solving skills and feedback from industrial partners. Students are encouraged to learn effectively by getting their hands dirty with a meticulously planned curriculum to invigorate their thirst for knowledge. As one of our graduates once said, “I am thankful to CMKL University for providing me with a great platform to do research with industry partners and learn from students and professors. Applying the theory learned in the classroom to the real world is a unique experience I will cherish forever” ~ Prabh Simran Baweja.

CMKL University offers various research possibilities. For example, the Porjai application has served as a bridge to help users understand the various dialects of Thailand. Currently, our goal is to make the model recognize local dialects and assist users unfamiliar with technology in accessing an e-commerce platform.

A world-class education is offered at Carnegie Mellon University and CMKL University, including lifelong friendships with like-minded individuals. Our program includes collaborations with many organizations and industries working together to turn dreams into reality. Students from all walks of life meet and interact on this chosen path, creating a better future for themselves and mankind. We invite you to become a part of our program, discover new practical knowledge, and be among the leading engineers of the rapidly changing technological landscape.
