
School of Dentistry, University of Phayao Advances “Borderless Healthcare” Toward a Regional Hub for Proactive Oral Health Promotion in ASEAN
The School of Dentistry at the University of Phayao is advancing its “Borderless Healthcare” model to deliver cross-border care for patients with cleft lip and palate in Thailand, Myanmar, and Lao PDR, aiming to improve access to care and quality of life for children and families in the region.
The initiative was implemented through the “Oral Health Behavior Promotion for Cleft Lip and Palate Patients (2/2025)” project, held on March 21, 2026. Led by Associate Professor Dr. Patcharawan Srisilapanan, DDS.Acting Dean, School of Dentistry, the program brought together a multidisciplinary team of dental professionals, sports scientists, faculty members, and students.
The project focuses on a Holistic Approach, combining treatment, prevention, and physical development. Dental care is integrated with sports science to support patient recovery and long-term health outcomes, reflecting a growing trend in integrated healthcare.
Key activities include:Clinical Excellence – providing continuous oral health care and monitoringPhysical Performance Tracking – using sports science to track and improve physical developmentand Cross-Border Community – organizing activities that promote cultural exchange and regional cooperation
The program has attracted continued participation from families across the three countries, reflecting growing international trust in the university’s capabilities and reinforcing its role as a regional healthcare hub.
The event also featured the “Positive Energy Award”, recognizing children and families who demonstrate strong commitment to oral health care. The award aims to encourage positive behavior and inspire other patients in the program.
The University of Phayao continues to expand its international engagement through practical healthcare initiatives, strengthening its position in proactive oral health promotion and regional collaboration in ASEAN.
